Ski Slope Beauty

I understand that not everyone likes to wear make-up when they go skiing, and I never used to, but for the last few times I’ve gone I’ve found myself wearing a bit. I’m not talking contouring, smoky eyes and red lips, the idea is a more natural, radiant look with a little bit of colour. This is what I found most useful on my ski trip last week.

flat lay ski essentials

Neal’s Yard Remedies Almond Moisturiser // £19.50 With skincare I always go for the products targeting oily/combination skin but as the air in the mountains is temperamental, with it being sunny and blue skies one day and freezing blizzard the next, I normally get very dry skin. I use a thick layer of this almond moisturiser at night to replenish my skin from a day’s skiing.

Neal’s Yard Remedies Organic Facial Wipes // £5.50 I’m SO in love with these wipes (as raved about here) they are perfect for the end of a long day up the mountains where all you want to is mooch on the sofa with a glühwein and a piece of cake. Wiping of the day’s make up and spf couldn’t be easier and the wipes have a large amount of aloe vera in which calms wind/sun burn. They smell like a spa, don’t irritate the eyes at all and do the job well.

bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Moisturiser // £26.00 A foundation whilst skiing is a big no-no for me. I like a natural, barely there look and something that won’t transfer on to my white ski jacket. I tried this in the Summer and thought it was a bit too oily for me but during the winter months it has been a dream. Also with an SPF of 30 you have that added protection with you, as well as just the right amount of coverage. I’ll be repurchasing this one.

Piz Buin Mountain sun cream // £7.50 Whenever I’ve gone skiing the trusty Piz Buin comes out. My family and I have always used PB products so I find it hard to venture out into other sun cream brands. It’s a non-sticky formula that does well under make-up and it slides easily into your ski jacket pocket. I hardly ever had to re-apply throughout the day and it kept my skin well protected; job well done.

MAC Prep + Prime Moisture Infusion Serum // £29.50 This has been my primer for the past 9 months and I love it. The price caught my breath a bit but I’m pleasantly surprised at how much is left after 9 months so you definitely get your money’s worth. This is a thin serum that I put on before make-up which smooths the skin very nicely and keeps oil at bay. I can confidently say it’s my favourite MAC product ever.

Piz Buin SPF Nivea Ski Sun Protection health beauty

Nivea Lip Care Sun SPF 30 // £3.00 This again is a family favourite for ski holidays. I’ll warn you now it doesn’t come out sheer on the lips it has a white-ish base but I love this as any colour put on top is made extra vibrant. It’s also water resistant so won’t wash off easily even after food and drink. An all around cheap, good quality lip balm.

Benefit Gimmie Brow Eyebrow Gel // £18.50 When skiing the alarm is always set at 7:30am latest in order to make the most out of the day so when doing my make-up in the morning I want it to be quick so I can get as many zzz’s as possible! Gimmie Brow is the cult product from Benefit that gives you easy, quick, lovely brows in seconds. Normally I’d add to my brows with my Anastasia Brow Wiz but ain’t nobody got time for that when the slopes are calling! I use one pump for both eyebrows and wiggle the wand upwards in the inner parts of my eyebrows for a natural look.

Too Faced Melted Lipstick in Chihuahua // £16.00 I can’t stop raving about these melted lipsticks and I wish I bought more than two when I was in the US recently. These are rich in colour, very long lasting, have the nicest applicator and they don’t crack. I know, I felt the same way you did, “how is that possible?”. Well it is and Too Faced have done it marvellously.

Maybelline EyeStudio Color Tattoo Eyeshadow in Permanent Taupe // £4.99 This is a natural wash of colour you can make look good with just using your fingers to apply which is great for a rushed morning. A colour especially flattering for brown/hazel eyes.
